This place is a good choice to stay for 2 nights, it's a traditional hotel with rooms that have bathtubs, which I appreciated, and breakfast costs €10 per person per day.

We were upgraded to the Hotel Compostella as the Hotel madrigal was over booked. Compostella was a 3 star hotel so wse were quite happy with the mistake.

Excellent room (superior) although 2 flight narrow stairs up. Quiet room as on the back although front would be noisy. Parking in the street was no problem (in September) and free. Old city of Sarlat 5 minutes walk away
Not manned all the time but sister hotel 200m away was available

It was easy to find the hotel and parking on the street was available for free. The staff was either there or down the street at another hotel and helpful with recommending restaurants. The town center was easy to walk to and very safe. The double room was comfortable and the quad had a double bed and a twin trundle bed which was fine. The rooms were simple, clean, and comfortable. We did not eat at the hotel as we were on the road early each day. Keys to the front door as well as to your rooms were provided so if there was no staff there you could come and go as you pleased. There were no other guests that we saw when we were there.
The hotel is a little worn but quite clean. The stairs are a little narrow so if you have large suitcases you might find it a little difficult.

The hotel was very adequate for our stay--the location was excellent, the bed comfortable and the manager (owner?) was extremely nice and accommodating.
The hotel was very old and there was no lift--which we knew going in, but the location, breakfast and comfort of the room made it well worth our while.

Location is very good, at only ten minutes on foot from Sarlat's medieval city center. Price was very competitive.
Hotel was in an older building, which could be part of the appeal for some but it is a little noisy. The staff was very helpful when you could find them, but often you had to go to another hotel down the street (which I assume is under the same ownership) to find anyone to help you.

Good value for mone. A very clean and comfortable room. The room size was adequate for 4 people. The air conditioning worked extremely well. Breakfast was more than adequate and restocked frequently. the hotel is conventiently located within a 5 minute walk to the old town centre. We really enjoyed the Saturday market.
Access to the parking lot is through a narrow stone opening with a steep grade - may not be easily accessible for some. The stair well is also quite narrow which could be difficult to navigate with luggage.

Air conditioning worked and was very welcome The manager very kindly put all our picnic stuff in his fridge overnight and re-froze our freezer packs
Thought breakfast expensive for poor buffet spread. We went into the square where there was a market and for a fraction of the price we ate like kings with sunshine and great atmosphere
